Billing:
Anesthesia Specialists of Houston is
available to provide anesthesia for your surgical
and obstetrical needs at The Woman's Hospital of
Texas and Fannin Surgicare. We are providing you
with the following information so that you may
better understand our procedures and role in your
care.
|
|
-
Billing Procedures -
In addition to the facility bill, you will
receive a separate bill for professional
services from Anesthesia Specialists.
Although your facility bill will include
some anesthesia-related charges, (for items
such as equipment used in administering
anesthesia, anesthesia supplies, and
anesthesia medications), the facility's bill
does not include a charge for the
professional services of your
anesthesiologist.
|
-
Procedures Covered by Insurance
-
If your procedure is covered by insurance,
we will accept assignment of your right to
collect from most insurance carriers. As a
courtesy to you, our office will bill your
insurance company directly with a standard
claim form, avoiding the need for you to pay
our bill and then collect payment from your
insurer. Although your insurer will pay us
directly, you will remain responsible for
any non-covered charges, including any
deductible and/or co-payment amounts or
charges for which your insurance company has
denied payment after services have been
rendered.
|
-
Managed Care Plans -
Anesthesia Specialists participates in a
variety of managed care plans. In the event
your managed care insurer has not yet
entered into an agreement with us, your
insurer may treat your anesthesia care as
non-covered under its plan. Your insurer
may then consider you responsible for all or
a portion of your bill for anesthesiology
services and may expect Anesthesia
Specialists to seek payment for our services
directly from you. If this occurs, please
contact our office, and we will work with
you in an effort to provide reasonable
payment arrangements for any amounts that
may ultimately be due.
|
-
No Insurance or Procedures not covered by
Insurance
- If you do not have insurance, or if your
insurance policy does not cover your
scheduled procedure (as is the case with
most elective cosmetic surgeries),
arrangements for payment of anesthesia
services must be made prior to your date of
service. Only when your bill is paid prior
to the service, you will receive a discount
off your non-covered charges. After the
procedure, you will receive for your records
a statement showing the anesthesiologist's
charges. The actual charges reflected on
your bill may differ from the amount you
prepaid, as your prepayment was a time-based
estimate. All major forms of payment are
accepted.
|
-
Postoperative Pain Management -
In addition to providing anesthesia services
during your procedure, you or your physician
may request our consultation or assistance
in postoperative pain management, generally
through the use of epidural narcotics. This
is an optional procedure that will be billed
separately from your primary anesthesia and
may not be covered by your insurance
policy. If you would like more information
about epidural narcotics, please call us or
discuss it with the anesthesiologist when
you register at our Interview Office.
