What is Anesthesia?

Anesthesia will induce a temporary loss of feeling or sensation to our patients to help minimize pain and discomfort. There are several types of anesthesia that can be used; General, Local, Regional and Epidural. The type of anesthesia chosen will vary based on our patients individual needs.

  • General Anesthesia - Total unconscious state, possible placement of tube into the windpipe.

  • Regional Anesthesia -  Temporary loss of feeling and / or movement of a limb.

  • Spinal or Epidural AnesthesiaTemporary decreased or loss of feeling and / or movement to the lower part of the body.

  • Monitored Anesthesia Care with Sedation - Reduced anxiety and pain, partial or total amnesia.

  • Major / Minor Nerve Block With or Without Sedation - Temporary loss of feeling and / or movement of a specific limb or area.
